When we were in France, I was reunited with several boxes of my belongings that never made it to this side of the ocean. While at the in-laws house (where it was all being stored) I was able to spend the time sorting and culling the boxes
with the intent to take them back to the U.S. with us.
There were books that had to get left behind (oh so many
books, oh so much sadness), but the most important things made it on the plane.
After a seriously long day lugging our now very heavy suitcases through the
airport (and one re-packing so that mine would make it under 50lbs), I now have
most of my most prized possessions back in my apartment.
For the first time since 2002 all of my belongings are in
the same state, including the innumerable boxes taking up space in my mother’s
storage pod. This, my friends, is a damned miracle.
Including a suitcase containing hundreds of dollars worth of
art supplies, was this:
It such a stupid thing, but I’m so glad to have my spoons
back.

Whenever I go home I'm always so excited to see some of my prized possessions.
I'm so glad you got your spoons back too! But sorry you had to leave the books!
